From conceptualisation to completion, L’interieur handles every step of each kitchen renovation. We find out what that entails.
Many of our clients have had to make careful financial considerations before transforming their kitchen. But for others, the biggest obstacle has been finding the right suppliers of quality materials and professionals they can trust to do a great job without blowing their budget. That’s where L’interieur shines, and our approach lets each homeowner be as involved, or as hands-off, as they like, while still signing off on every decision.
Here’s how we work with you to ensure that your experience with us is a breeze…
The vision
Having a ‘vision’ is key, so before embarking on any project, we need to get a sense of the space we’re working with. For this, it’s typically easiest to meet with you at your home and hear your ideas for the room/s you’re looking at either completely overhauling or just sprucing up with a lick of new paint and a few meaningful tweaks.
Some of our clients have a very clear picture in their minds of what they want their kitchen to look like. We’ve had homeowners provide us with specifics of the smallest of details, right down to the type of finish they want on their kitchen handles – even supplying pages of images for inspiration.
Others want us to take the lead on the design element of their renovation. In this instance, we put together a few options based on preferences and budget, and bed down a cohesive look and feel that makes us all go “wow!”
The project scope
Once we have a fix on the outcome we’re working towards, we can agree on the requirements and develop a project plan with a timeline and an outline of responsibilities for who will be doing what.
This planning phase is key because of how vast and varied each project is from one to the next; some need the space to be completely gutted, walls knocked down, and new wiring installed before anything else happens. Whatever the scope of the project, it will follow a certain order – for example, plastering can’t happen before plumbing, but it needs to happen before tiling and painting.
Other renovations are much simpler and are just a case of updating with trendier colours and décor.
From here, we can then start sourcing and confirming the availability of materials together with the suppliers of the goods and services we might need for the project.
Managing disruption
Kitchen renovation can be complicated, messy, and disruptive, which makes having a solid project plan – and sticking to it as far as possible – even more essential. This gives us definitive timelines on how we can best coordinate and line up the resources we need for each project. It also gives our clients time to work out how to arrange themselves around spaces in their homes that may be temporarily inaccessible or inoperable.
All of this can be stressful, particularly if something doesn’t go according to plan, so we try to ensure that we remove as much of this headache as possible. We designate a point of contact who:
- Speaks to each supplier or contractor to coordinate availability and access to your property.
- Ensures quality control over each part of the project.
- Keeps you in the loop on important updates and remain responsive to any questions you may have.
No decisions around any changes or additional costs are ever made without our clients’ input and green light.
Hands-on throughout
At L’interieur, we actively seek out and choose to work with locally based trades and suppliers. On the other side of this, servicing and being situated close to the Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, Little Aston, and Four Oaks areas means we can move quickly and be on site for the entire duration of the project.
We take great pride not only in our ability to manage every project from start to finish, but in the extensive network of designers, builders, artisans, and suppliers we have developed relationships with over more than 70 years in business. It has meant that we are able to share the opportunity with a wider pool of players and grow alongside each other. This puts us in a position to negotiate costs and call in favours on projects with tight turnarounds or specialised builds.
We have gone to great lengths to build strong relationships with each of the people we work with – and it’s paid its dues, with this model lending itself well to the growth of our business. We are now in the process of opening our second showroom at The Mitchell Centre in Sutton Coldfield, which is a collaboration with Bennett & Bowman Interiors.
In the future, we hope to further our reach and continue offering complete, homegrown interior design and renovation services.
Kitchen | Complete Renovation
Before, after, and everything in between
One of our more recent kitchen projects highlights how much work can go into transforming some spaces.
This was a complete renovation project that required walls to be removed. Floors were raised, with new structural steelwork, roofing, plumbing, and wiring installed. After plastering and the finishing touches, L’interieur was able to deliver a bright, fresh kitchen fit for everyday living, with features that include:
- Bespoke cabinetry
- Quartz worktops
- LVT flooring
- NEFF appliances
- Feature pendant lighting
- A beautiful statement island
